… demands swift explanation from government

Youths from areas covered by Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, (OSOPADEC) got battered at Alagbaka, Akure yesterday, for protesting the poor attention given to them in terms of development by the Akeredolu led government.

Otunba Bamidele Akingboye (OBA), Ondo State gubernatorial aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) , considers Akeredolu’s action as brutal, nasty, unwarranted, and unfair of a democratically elected government.

Akingboye posits that Akeredolu was elected by the people to protect them but surprised that a government entrusted with the mandate to protect its subjects is now interested in brutalizing them.

Akingboye believes government should at all times listen to the yearnings and agitations of the governed, especially issues bordering on their welfare and health.

He opines that it is an infringement on the right of the prostesters to be attacked for excercising their constitutional rights peacefully without any use or brandishing of arm, noting that in a democratic nation, the tenets of democracy must at all times be upheld.

Akingboye demands that those behind the comdemnable act should swiftly give detailed explanation/justification for the inhuman treatment metted on youths who are the future leaders of the state saying it is a pointer to the fact that Governor Akeredolu is insensitive to the safety of lives and properties of Ondo State citizens and residents.

Akingboye advises Akeredolu led government to place premium on peace, security and guarantee of constitutional rights even as he appeals to the aggrieved youths to be calm and remain law abiding.
