Werner scores on debut.

Timo Werner has scored his first goal in his first game for English giants, Chelsea.

Werner scored inside four minutes in Chelsea’s friendly draw against Brighton and Hove Albion.

Werner, who completed a reported £47.5 million ($63m) switch from RB Leipzig in this summer’s transfer window, combined with fellow new boy Hakim Ziyech at Brighton’s Amex Stadium on Saturday.

Werner seized his opportunity from a miscued Callum Hudson-Odoi header after Ziyech had swung across a left-footed delivery from the right.

The German forward, who scored 28 times in 34 Bundesliga games last season, will be hoping to spearhead Chelsea’s attack come the 2020-21 English Premier League season.

Werner is a  part of an important summer rebuild at Stamford Bridge, with boss Frank Lampard looking to improve on an impressive 2019-20 debut season.
