Red devil boss Jose Mourinho confirms Manchester United captain Michael Carrick will take the chance to join the club’s coaching team when he retires at the end of the season.
Michael Carrick will return to first-team duty following his recovery from an irregular heart rhythm. But he’s set to retire from playing and become a part of coach at the end of the season, Jose Mourinho has confirmed.
“The club would be very happy for him to do that. I would be very happy also for him to do that,” Mourinho said.
“[He’s had] a few months without even training so now he is in his second week of training with the team,” Mourinho added.
“[He’s a] very important player for us. I think the decision – to be [made] at the end of the season and not last week – is a good decision for the team and a good decision for him to finish playing football and not injured or with some problem.
Carrick has made 460 appearances for the Red Devils, scoring 23 goals, and has won five Premier League titles, the Champions League, Europa League and an FA Cup winners’ medal.
