To those who had ever met Hajia Latifat Abiodun Giwa, the Honourable Commissioner for Women, Children and Social Affairs in Osun, will no doubt unanimously agree that she is not only a very humble and caring mother of all, but she is also an industrious political office holder who so much believes in excellence, achievable vision, good governance and effective leadership skills. Her principles coupled with her academic, professional and political precedents are attestations to these significant qualities of the Honourable Commissioner. In fact, she is a woman worthy of emulation in all aspects of life.
Academically, Hajia Latifat Giwa is a guru! She displayed her intellectual prowess in 1988 when she became the Best World Student in Property and Pecuniary Examination. Her interest in quality education made her study Insurance at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and Marketing (MBA) at Ladoke Akintola University, Ogbomoso. She continued to pursue knowledge at College of Insurance, Kent, the United Kingdom. Throughout her academic years, Hajia Latifat Giwa had clean and excellent academic records.
The Honourable Commissioner has excelled in her chosen profession, no doubt! Before she became the Commissioner for Women, Children and Social Affairs about six months ago, Hajia Giwa had worked in different companies and held various leadership positions. It should not be forgotten in a jiffy that she was the former Amirah of FOMWAN in the State of Osun. Her good leadership skills distinguished her as a woman per excellence and visionary leader.
In other to ensure her professional relevance, Hajia Latifat Giwa became a Chartered Insurer, an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Nigeria (ACII), a Fellow and Member of the Nigeria Council of Registered Insurance Brokers(NCRIB), among other professional bodies. She has also won many awards in the course of her duty.
As today (December 29) marks the 62nd year of our dear mother, leader, role model, mentor and commissioner, we pray the Almighty Allaah continue to grant you sound health, long and prosperous life. The charming people of Osun love you; the good people of Ede appreciate your constant kind gestures. Iwájú iwájú lę ó ma a lo ooooo!?
