Kylian Mbappe has won the Golden Boy award ahead of Gabriel Jesus and Ousmane Dembele, who were shortlisted and now joins a long line of wonderkids to have won the prize.
The award is given to the best player under the age of 21 in Europe and is voted for by a panel of journalists from across the continent.
The PSG striker, who has scored four goals and provided four assists in 11 games for the club this season, burst onto the world stage with Monaco last season and is now flourishing in the French capital, having formed a terrifying partnership with Brazilian Neymar.
The striker, who already has eight international caps for France, won with 291 votes beating second-placed Dembele, who secured 149 votes
Mbappe wins the award ahead of the likes of Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus, Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele and Milan’s Gianluigi Donnarumma, and joins a list of illustrious previous winners, including Lionel Messi, Paul Pogba and Isco.
Wayne Rooney (2004) and Raheem Sterling (2014) have previously won the award which is given to the player who has been in the best form over the previous calendar year.
