Ghanaian celebrities and others citizens celebrated the country’s 61st independent anniversary yesterday and it all took place in grand style.
The nation on West Africa’s Gulf of Guinea, is known for diverse wildlife, old forts and secluded beaches, such as at Busua. Coastal towns Elmina and Cape Coast contain posubans (native shrines), colonial buildings and castles-turned-museums that serve as testimonials to the slave trade.

The anniversary held with a parade of security personnel and school children in Accra. The theme for this year’s celebration was “Ghana Beyond Aid”.
The occasion was graced by His Excellency Muhammadu Buhari, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as Special Guest of Honour.


The Black Stars joined the rest of the west African country in celebrating their liberation from the British colony.
Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Patey, Enyimba goalkeeper Fatau Dauda, Swansea City forward Andre Ayew, and Deportivo Alaves’ Mubarak Wakaso have taken to social media to celebrate Ghana’s 61st Independence Day anniversary.
