One killed, other injured as SARS opens fire on unarmed couple in Lagos

Culprits have been arrested, one declared wanted.

Officers of a Special Unit of Nigeria Police now known for brutal killings have struck again after opening fire on young couple in Ajegunle, Apapa area of Lagos State.

According to the report, the sad incident occurred early Saturday, (April 14th) morning when the couple, Emmanuel and Jessica Ada were returning home from a club outing.

Eyewitnesses disclosed that the officers trailed them to their destination before opening fire on them, killing one on the spot.

It was reported that while Jessica died on the spot, Emmanuel is currently battling with his life in the hospital.

The eyewitness, who was the 3rd person in the vehicle disclosed that they all noticed men on motorcycles flagging them to stop but Emmanuel who couldn’t identify them as Police officers drove off. It was later shocking to him that the officers double crossed them after reaching their house and opened fire, killing Jessica in the process. It was learnt that the officers were members of the Special Anti Robbery Squad attached to Trinity Police Station, Ajegunle.

Reacting to the incident, the Divisional Police Officer of Trinity Police Station confirmed the shooting and stated that the officers have been taken to Force Headquarters, Ikeja for interrogation.

According to a statement by the Divisional Police Officer of Trinity Police Station, the Policemen arrested are (1) Inspector Adamu Usman (2) Sergeant Adeyeye Adeoye (3) Sergeant Kashim Tijani (4) Sergeant Lucky Akigbe and (5) Sergeant Paul Adeoye while Inspector Dania Ojo who escaped immediately after the shooting incident is declared wanted by the Command.
